Notes from our meeting yesterday:
 
PLEASE NOTE: On Tuesday, April 25, 2017, we will be meeting at
Highview Restaurant
(located at 425 W Saint Charles Rd, Villa Park) 
for a presentation from the Schafer School Destination Imagination Group.
  • On Tuesday, April 25, we will be having a performance by the School District 45 Destination Imagination group from Schafer School. The kids from the Schafer DI team recently were awarded the Renaissance Award. This meeting will be held at Highview as noted above.
  • Scott Helton shared the news that there will be a town hall meeting at Willowbrook on Saturday, April 22. Please see the attachments on our website for all of the details.
  • Scott also shared news about the D88 Interact Club who have the opportunity to visit Nevada for a group trip. The club will receive a scholarship for the hotel and activities, but need to raise funds for transportation to Las Vegas. Tony made a motion to donate $1,000 to the D88 Interact Club to assist with the transportation. Buzz seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed.
  • Jay shared information about the Rotary 6440 Conference at the end of April. There is also a Youth Conference for Interact and RYLA members at this time. Rich made a motion to send 10 students from District 88 (5 from each school) to the Youth Conference. The fee is $25 per student. Bob seconded. All were in favor. None were opposed. 
  • Our club was also contacted to host another Youth Exchange student. After a brief discussion it was decided that we would look to host another exchange student for the 2018-2019 school year. Bill S. made a motion to host an exchange student during the 2018-19 school year. Jan seconded. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. 
We did not have a speaker this week, but we did have a guest make a brief presentation about an upcoming Eagle Scout project. Ethan Rojek from Boy Scout Troop #242 talked about his upcoming Eagle Scout Project. He will be working on improving the entrance to the Great Western Trail. Ethan will focus on the benches and stamped concrete to be added to beautify the area and another Boy Scout will work on cleaning up the bushes, trees, etc. The time frame for the project start will be June or late July with an estimated completion time of August. Our club presented Ethan with a check in the amount of $750.00 for a bench sponsored by our club.
 
The next Board meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 27 at 5:30pm. 
 
Mike Byron was this week's winner of the President's Raflle.
